what pain medication can i use for my severe pain without acetominaphen?
i take lortab for my pain, but i need something that has no acetominaphen
what can i use?
I also take prescription pain meds. Sometimes, I add Aleve which has naproxen in it. You could also try ibuprofen. Don't take the Aleve and ibuprofen at the same time. Good luck

If your body can handle oxycodone, my Dr. gave me Roxicodone, just Percocet without the tylenol. I was on Vicodin, and Percocets, and this medicine works better for me. Its also cheaper than the other 2, of course I take the generic form.
It's just instant release oxycodone without tylenol, been a shortage, but I have been able to find it where I live, hope I helped?

I use Fiorinal. Fiorcet has acetominaphen so I do NOT use that. :) I used lortab before but I could not take lorcet (same reason).
once I was given Vistaril for pain even though it is commonly used for anxiety. It worked wondefully.
? you could ask the pharmacist which meds do not contain acetominaphen they could give you a list of them OR you might be surprised how many of them have memorized the meds.

Almost every opoid available with APAP (the medical abreviation for acetominophen) is available without, from codeine to oxycodone and everything in between. With APAP they are schedule 4 and your doc can call it in and most docs will prescribe it. Without APAP it is easier to abuse (obviously, as the danger from the APAP has been removed) so it is schedule 2, which means it is much harder to find a pharmacy that has it in stock as the government watches it closely, the doctor must hand you a written scrip that you must deliver (in most states within 72 hours of receiving it) by hand to the pharmacy. It can be for no more than 1 month's supply at the dosage written (if as needed--the quantity as if you needed it every time it was permissible--so if it 1 tab every 6 hours as needed the scrip can be for no more than 120) and if your doc isn't a pain specialist (s)he probably won't write it. If you see a pain doc, no problem, without APAP is safer and just as effective.
To the person who mentioned Vistaril--It's long been known that Vistaril can "boost" the effectiveness of narcotics, but I've never heard of it being given by itself for pain. Years ago it was commonly used with Demorol for pain in the emergency department.
It's inconvenient, and it's supposed to be. I take 2 schedule 2's, one as my 24/7 med and a different one for breakthrough. As the breakthrough med is as needed it needs filled randomly while the other needs to be filled on the same day each month. No refills are allowed so each month my doctor must give me a new paper scrip for it, and when needed she must give me another paper scrip for the breakthrough med.
