If physical therapy doesnt work what is the next step for degenerating discs in lower back? I am only 15 years old and I am worried about my future. I dont know what will happen if my physical therapy doesnt work. The pain can get pretty bad and I cant handle the pain when I lay down. So I cant sleep. The doctor put me on pain meds to put me to sleep but I cant stay on them forever. So when my physical therapy is over I wont get any more meds so I wil be up all night. Which means I will have to go back to the doctor. So what will they do next for me?

Here's a link to an article that talks about the different treatment options for degenerative disc disease:  http://www.spine-health.com/conditions/degenerative-disc-disease/lumbar-degenerative-disc-disease-treatment-options

Because of your age, they're most likely going to try to stick to the most conservative treatments.  Another possibility not mentioned in the article is acupuncture.  It can be quite effective for pain and has made a big difference for me when it comes to being able to sleep.  Here's more infor on it:  Treating Pain With Acupuncture
