Q: What is Spondolithesis(ms) and how does it affect a person?

My son has had this, or at least been told he has this for about 23 years when he was given a medical discharge from the Marine Corps because of it. He is in constant pain 24/7. Lower back, shoulders and knees. This makes it a little rough when your job is in the construction field. Can anyone help?

I can imagine that it must be difficult and painful for your son to work in construction with spondylolisthesis.  Here is a link to a very good video animation that shows what happens to the spine:  Spondylolisthesis  There you'll also find links to more information about the symptoms, causes and treatment options for spondylolisthesis as well as some additional videos on the subject.

You can also read my article about Spondylolithesis. A good spine surgeon can help with severe cases. A good physical therapist can help with mild cases. Either way, construction is not the business to be in if your son has a "spondy". He might want to look into alternative work. Sometimes a person just needs to adapt to the tolerance levels of the body.

Hi... please tell your son thank you for his time in the service as I am retired Vietnam Vet.  Have him contact the Veterans Adminstration to apply for disability for his conditions, and also the Social Security Adminstration for being unable to work.  Again, please relay to him to contact the VA for his disability.  Wayne
