Costochondritis is very painful and can take weeks to heal! Follow dr's orders and take really good care of yourself. FM always amplifies our pain. LP

Yes, and I have had it on and off for years. One doctor gave me advice that has saved me many trips to the ER. I hope it is solid advice. I have been sticking to it for over a decade and so far he's been right. He told me that when you have chest pain.. if touching it or pressing on it increases the pain .. if the pain IS touchable.. then it isn't your heart. According to him you can't "touch" heart pain in the chest. Hope this helps and when you say it hurts in all caps... I might add it can hurt so much that caps just isn't enough of a way to explain to someone who hasn't experienced it. Good luck to you

Several years ago I had a dx of Fibromyalgia and then Costochronditis. Now I have been having chest discomfort just like previous and because of my age(70), I was taken to the Er and worked up with tests and looking for heart problems and i think I have the same dx of Costochronditis.

At times it hurts so bad in chest and back. Putting some material binding around the chest helps with anti inflammatory meds.

Also have Archnoiditis which is inflammation of the back nerves and wear a fentynal pach for the pain.

Good luck to you

In 1985 I run to Emergency room with terrible pain on my chest.

Since that day until now I sufer with that horrible pain that sometimes

I can even brief, talk or swallow. Any Dr can not help me with this.

My husband get scare thinking was a heart attac. The doctor did not know

what I had, He send me to a cardiologist and he told us I had the pain because

I have I small heart. Many year I belive in that diagnostic until

another Dr told my that was not true, he told me the pain comes from my

stomac because I had GERD. The reumatologist told me I have Fibromialgia

Now I joing to a Fibromialgia Group support and found out the real dignosis for my

pain on the chest.
