Can pain relievers such as OxyContin cause fever? I've been running a low grade fever (99.1) since I've been taking this drug for about four months.

I have hepititis C and my regular MD says that this desease maybe the cause of the fever. I've had hep C for at least 20 years and my viral load is over 5 million. Can OxyContin further damage the liver?

In drug trials oxycontin caused fever in a very small percentage of patients (1-5%) (http://www.rxlist.com/oxycontin-drug/article.htm).

I couldn't find any information on oxycontin causing liver damage. The main concern with oxycontin and the liver appears to be just the opposite; people with poor liver function don't appear to metabolize the drug as fully - which can result in higher than normal levels of the drug being present in the body for longer periods (http://www.rxlist.com/oxycontin-drug/article.htm). This means that people with severely impaired liver functioning should take lower levels of the drug.
