Q: Can fibromyalgia cause foot pain, especially on the heel? Recently diagnoses and having this pain.

I know fibromyalgia is rare for men, but I was recently diagnosed and having a lot of foot pain, especially on the heel. I have good shoes, and sit a lot at work. Just wondering if fibromyalgia can cause this. Also, I do not have much pain elsewhere other than back and headaches, but I think I was diagnosed due to chronic fatigue and sleep apnea.

More women than men have FM but substantial numbers of men have it also. Be careful about subscribing symptoms to FM (or CFS) without having a doctor check them out - studies have shown that substantial numbers of CFS patients have undiagnosed ailments.

FM can cause all sorts of pain but it may not be causing your heel pain. You might want to check out a condition called plantar fasciitis that causes heel pain and can be treated.  You can find out more about plantar fasciitis at

Good luck!
