Actually the speculation is just the opposite; there is the fear that too much soy could promote the formation of kidney stones. Soy has high levels of a substance called oxalate which binds with calcium to form kidney stones. In fact soy has so much oxalate that researchers couldn't find any soy foods that might not contribute to this problem. All the soy foods tested had higher levels of oxalate than the American Dietetic Association reccomends for people a history of kidney stones.
