Q: Sharp pain in toes and feet?

What can cause stabbing sharp pain in the foot and toes?  The pain is sometimes in my heel or the sides of my feet and nothing --  rubbing, heat, cold -- helps.  It's like being stabbed by little knives. Iit doesn't last long (maybe 12 to 15 minutes) but it is very painful.

Hi there, Jean -

I'm sorry it's taken so long for someone to answer your question!  I hope by now that you've found a solution to this problem, but in case you haven't, I can tell you that foot pain can be caused by overuse, strain, or a number of medical conditions. Your doctor will be able to tell you how best to treat it, and I hope by now you've gotten some relief.
