Q: Cant lift my feet off the ground whilst standing. I can however, from the knee down, whilst sitting.

Last Thursday night when I stood up to go to bed I could barely walk. I was suffering from pain in what I believed to my groin (I'm a girl). All day Friday walking was very slow & difficult, having to lean slightly from side to side to walk, much like a duck. The pain persisted. Then come Saturday morning, thinking it would improve, it was much worse. Now I can not lift my foot off the ground. The pain has moved down into my upper thigh. It is not the pain however which prevents me from lifting my foot. It simply wont lift. Like trying trying to lift a barbell which is well beyond ones capability. I was going to go to my doctor but the office is closed until Monday. I am afraid of the local ER because a couple months back when I had something in my eye that after two days was causing it to swell I went to the local ER & the pup that was there did not want to tilt my head & rince from the side, but squirt the solution directly in from the front.

I'm sorry I didn't see your question sooner.  I trust by now you've seen your doctor and have some answers.  And I hope you're feeling better.  For future reference, check and see if your town has any walk-in clinics.  (They often have names like Urgent Care or Emergicare.)  They usually offer evening and weekend hours when most doctor's offices are closed.  Try looking in the Yellow Pages under "Clinics."

I know that one bad experience at an ER can make you hesitant and even fearful of going again, but at times it may be your only option.  If your town has more than one hospital, you might try a different ER.  Or even if you go to the same one, there's a good chance you won't get the same doctor.  I've had both good and bad experiences in ERs.  They're never my first choice, but they're better than continuing to suffer or taking a chance on letting something serious go on too long.
