Can moderate cervical osteo arthritis be a cause of chronic muscle spasms in the neck?

Can moderate cervical osteo arthritis be the cause of, or contribute to, chronic stiff muscles in the neck? I was diagnosised with Spasmodic Torticollis at the end of March '08 and I am still in rehab. I can feel the same pain beginning again, however this time it is on the opposite side of my neck. Does anyone have any information on whether these conditions are related? Can I expect to live with this the rest of my life? It is extremely painful!

Another strange thing happening is I am being awakened through the night with muscle cramping in my feet; now it has progressed to the calves,  and toes and is getting progressively worse? These cramps are so sever sometimes the muscles hurt for hours afterwards. Does anyone have any information as to the cause of the lower body muscle spasms? Could they be related to what is happening in my neck? Is there a possibility I have some underlying medical issue that my Dr. hasn't diagnosised? Any information would be much appreciated!!

Thanks,

Paige

Dear Pamper,

I'm not a doctor but my wife has the same problem you are talking about. She was in an accident with her sister about eight years ago. They were rearended by a flatbed truck and got whip lashed. He physician told her she had arthritis which was due most likely to the injury. Have you had any trama to that part of your spine? Besides that, it could be from your genes. You know, aunt sara or grandma sue. I hope you find the answers you are looking for. That's why we are all here, looking for help and perhaps a bit of moral support.

bye
