I've just been diagnosed with Dercums Disease, does anyone else happen to have this? Thanks

I'm interested to find out if anyone on any of the Boards has Dercums Disease.  I was diagnosed with it last week although I must pat myself on the back and say I researched this condition and brought it to my Dr's. awareness.  I have several "lipomas" that are intensely painful.  The Dr. said, "they can't hurt," well, mine did and have for years.  I asked for a Dermatology consult and was given this diagnosis. I had previously Googled "pain in fatty tissue," and it came back with "Dercums Disease" as a possibility. Not much to do about it other than excise the lipomas, and there is treatment with IV Lidocaine, but my Dr. said that's pretty risky, - lots of heart arrythmias are possible.  Thanks...

Good for you for diagnosing yourself correctly!  You probably already know this but there are several Dercum's support groups on the web.
