The clinical trial is currently recruiting patients.  Here is a link to the official information about this study, including contact info.

Phase 3 Study of Hydrocodone Bitartrate Controlled-release Capsules in Subjects With Chronic Low Back Pain

Please let us know if you do get to participate in the study.

i WOULD LIKE TO BE IN A CLINCAL  TRIAL STUDY. HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT THIS? I'M SURE I WOULD NEED TO INFORM MY PAIN MANGEMENT DR, THE ONLY PROBLEM  I SEE WOULD BE IF GIVEN A PLACEBO. I WOULD GO INTO WITH DRAWAL BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN ON HYDRCODONE FOR SO LONG OTHER THAN THAT I  WOULD LIKE TO TRY TO DO THIS.

If you'll click on the link I gave you for the study then scroll down a bit, you'll find a detailed description of the study, a list of the eligibility and exclusion criteria, and a name, phone number and e-mail address for the person you need to contact.

They are looking for people who currently take opioids, and there is a 6-week Conversion and Titration phase before beginning the treatment phase of the trial, so it sounds like they will take precautions to avoid any withdrawal problems.

Read through the eligibility and exclusion criteria.  If you think you would qualify for the trial, call or e-mail the lady listed and ask about your withdrawal concerns.  I feel sure they wouldn't let someone go through cold-turkey withdrawal – for one thing, that wouldn't give them very accurate results.

i think you are most lickly right! but i want to try anything i can becauce pain 24/7 robs so much of our lives and the one's who abuse it will find a way no matter what. makes if very hard for us that are in pain mangement and don't abuse our meds. they write script for people that sell them or are highly addicted seems they can get whatever they want, while we have to jump hoops to get our meds, life is not fair and really makes angry that the people who abuse the system makes so hard for the one;s that suffer daily!!Undecided i would have to make sure with pm doc before i could even be in a trial study!Surprisedbless everyone!!!!
