Romy, Hello my name is Dana, I also have all you do and some more. I was diagnosed 13 yrs. ago and like you suffered many years in pain. I finally contacted Medtronic, a company in mn. who specialize in making equipment to help control chronic pain among other ailments. They in turn gave me a list of doctors who specialize in pain managment. 3 years ago, I had a intrathecal medicinal pump placed. It has been a life saving and changing experience. It is a small 3 inch pump,(about the size of a hockey puck) that is placed just below the skin in the abodemen, with a catheder tube running around the waist to your spinal cord that releases a constant amount of medication. I have morphine and baclofen (for spasicity) in my pump. Like I said it has been a great relief to have pain relief. It does not control ALL the pain, but enough that I am ble to join in life again. I still have flare ups and do tend to over do because I do feel better, but it is no where near the amount of pain I was experiencing before. Most doctors will also continue to give you pain medication for break through pain. There is no extreme side effect as is experienced with oral pain meds, you do not have the extreme drowsiness and other side effects.I know this sounds like extreme measure and it took me 3 yrs. to convince myself to do it, but it was the best decision of my life.
