Symptoms of Fibromyalgia

anna
11/05/08

I have heard you can get extreme fatigue from Fibromtalgia.  About the last month at times I have felt like I weigh  about a ton.  I can't move.  It doesn't seem much better if I make myself move.  I also keep getting extrem dizzy spells and pain in the middle of my forehead.  I'm taking tylenol#4 and zoloft.  Could this be my medcation or my Fibromyalgia?

The most common side effects of Zoloft are symptoms like tremors, muscle stiffness, agitation and convulsions but it can also cause dizziness and drowsiness and weakness.

On the other hand fatigue is very commonly found in fibromyalgia and some FM and CFS patients have problems with orthostatic intolerance; i.e. symptom flareups when they stand up such as rapid heartbeat, dizziness, etc. Several things could be causing this including autonomic nervous system problems and low blood volume.

You should definitely talk to your doctor about this. Your dizziness and fatigue could be due to Zoloft or it could be a side effect of fibromyalgia. If you are experiencing orthostatic intolerance then there are drugs that may be able to help you.

The Pediatric Network has some good information on orthostatic intolerance in FM and CFS.
