The blood tests for RA are helpful but not always definitive. Some of them usually do show up positive in an RA patient not always; a few people with RA don't register positive on any of the tests. Luckily those patients tend to  have a less severe course of the disease.

Do you have swelling and redness? If you don't then you might want to ask your doctor about fibromyalgia. FM patients typically have widespread pain without swelling that is often accompanied by poor sleep, problems concentrating, etc.

I apologize for not answering sooner. I have been trying to find a Rhuematologist that will listen to me. My crp levels ended up coming back elevated at 1.6 and 1.8 a month apart. My Rhuemy looked at the results and said he wasn't worried and would see me back in 3 months. I showed him the redness on my knuckles and toes and he said he saw a rash and some inflamation, and then said "anyways, I will see you in 3 months. " My primary Dr. said i have FM about 11 months ago, but this feels very different. My hands feel stiff and painfull all day..worse when I wake from a nap, or a nights sleep. My knees and elbows will be extremly painfull and stiff. My elbow gets sharp stinging pains running from the joint around and down my forearm. I have been waking in the middle of the night with the most unbearable migraines. All I can do is scream from someone to get me water and advil. Then a couple hours later it will wake me again. That's at least 3 x a week. I am so frustrated, so are my kids, although they don't say it.  I work 45 plus hours a week and take care of 5 kids, my husband works nights. I'm sorry for rambling, I just feel the need to be heard. Thank you for replying earlier, hopefully you will again. I don't want the Dr.'s to write me off with FM, when more could be going on. I want my life back.

This is what the emergency Doctor stated that I might have. I am expereincing the same thing along with heartburn, fatigue, and headaches. This weekend I had to have an IV the headaches and joint pain got so bad. Have them check for Lupus and Fibromyalgia. Good Luck!!

Sorry so late in the response. Did you ever find out what was wrong? Hopefully nothing to serious. I have been getting the migraines that wake me from a dead sleep. i cant move, and they are so painfull, they make me cry which just makes it worse. Now i have nausea..which comes with migraines but it last all day. No new news to report except I have an app. with a new dr. in August. Good Luck and keep me posted, i'll keep you in my thoughts.
