Q: retroperitoneal cysts

I recently have been diagnosed with a retroperitoneal cyst that is located on the posterior side to the descending colon and is approximately the size of a lemon. I have been having some left lower quadrant pain since July of 07 and am wondering what the deal is with this. My family has a long history of abdominal cancer going back 4 generations on my mothers side. I cannot seem to locate any information on the internet or in my Merck. Appreciate any information. Thank you.
