Hi Tim, following is a letter I sent to Jamie at AARP:   We need help getting Darvocet made available for us again. We are Chronic Pain Sufferers and we range in age but most of us are seniors. We have MS, Lupus, Disk Degenerative Disease, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Botched surgeries, and on and on. The FDA found a remote study that basically said that if you take Darvocet for 100 years you MIGHT experience some heart toxicity. We have been on Darvocet for over 20 years without ONE side effect. Darvocet is one of the safest drugs that was out there. It is a mild narcotic which enabled us to function without being loopy, sleepy, or having that drugged feeling. My Doctor said that it was probably the safest drug on the market at that time, and this heart toxicity thing was made up. We believe that an organization called Public Citizen had something to do with this removal. I believe that the study was manufactured by a group that was then given a grant by someone who wanted this drug removed. Here is the problem, there are hundreds of thousands of MS and Lupus patients who took Darvocet every day and it enabled them to function, hold jobs, and participate in their families. They have since lost their jobs, their homes, and have had to go on disability to survive. All this suffering because some self righteous "do gooder" took a medication and had a reaction. Instead of just not taking it anymore they campaigned to take it away from millions of people who needed it.  The human suffering is immeasurable! All the pain medicine that is out there now is thousands of times stronger and has horrible side effects which makes all of us bedridden or being rushed to the emergency room. About 3 years ago the FDA removed a popular MS drug from the market  which my doctor says was truly dangerous and the MS patients were up in arms about it and said that they needed it. The FDA allowed the MS patients to have it back if they would sign a release form, which they did. This is what we are asking for as well, allow those of us who were on it for over 20 years to sign a release form and have it back. It might not be too late for some of those MS and Lupus patients to get their jobs back. The FDA is not listening because they have a new head named Dr. Margaret Hamburg who is an Obama appointee and she doesn't care what  we "little people" have to say, she won't even read our letters or respond to us, she gets one of her flunkies to do it. No one will help us, and it is just a matter of time before they come for one of your medications, and these people are not going to forget this when elections come up. If you won't help us, at least ask someone there if they would help us, we are looking for an attorney to file a class action lawsuit against the FDA for the horrible suffering that has been caused by removing Darvocet. The FDA took a vote on this matter and they said they considered everything, but that isn't true, they never considered the people or the human implications that their vote would have on real people not just on paper.
