How come doctors won't increase your pain meds as needed.  My doctor had me on 90 mg a day.  I left him and went to a methadone clinic.  Now I'm on 220 a day and feel So much better.  Tell why doctors are reluctant to increase meds as needed?  Whats the issue we aren't all addicts!

That is exactly the issue.... Not everyone is an addict, but with all of the recent news of "celebrities" dying of overdoses and Oprah having a show about it, etc. It makes the Pain Management Doctor's nervous! They are always been hunted by the DEA and the local law enforcement, to make sure that they are not over-prescribing individuals, so instead of been able to practice medicine like they want, they are left practice medicine to CYA. (to cover their arses), because they don't want to be labeled "Drug Doctor's". It is sad, but true!

Go check the website of the American Pain Association, they are working to stop the stigma of opiates in the State's, for those of us that are in chronic and/or intractable pain.

It is a sad situation......
