I have Trigeminial Neuralgia, I need to take MS Contin for pain. Will it work as good as Oxycodone?

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have been on 9--80 mg's of Oxycodone a day for pain, caused by Trigeminal Neuralgia, it's caused by a degenerative 5th cranial nerve.  Now the manufactors of Oxycodone have quit making it due to a problem with the patin on the drug.  Meanwhile it has been suggested I take MS Contin for my pain.  I am hesitant to try this drug, because I tried it about 20 years ago, and it caused severe burining on the R side of my face and head area where I have the Trigeminal Neuralgia.

Does anyone have any infoformation on this drug and severe chronic pain?  I would really appreciated it, especially if the pain is caused from Trigeminial Neuralgia.

Thank you,

According to the news I could find, the patent lawsuit was settled and oxycodone (generic OxyContin) should still be available at least through the end of next year.  At any rate, the brand name OxyContin should be available, although it would be more expensive. I don't know much about MS Contin, but here is some information on it:  http://www.healthcentral.com/chronic-pain/find-drug-25283-25.html
