5-HTP/SAMe-can I take both of these?

I have fibromyalgia. I started taking 5-HTP on 1/31/09. It has made a significant improvement in the quality of my life. I bought SAMe, too. I haven't started taking it yet. I am 60yrs old. I weigh 92lbs, 4'10" tall. I take 5-HTP 3/day-6hrs apart,on an empty stomach. I am completely dependent on my daughter-no bank account, no health insurance. I haven't been able to see a Dr since 2006-so no meds. The only thing I take is tylenol, motrin, pepcid, and OTC allergy pills. (I do take vitamins & minerals)

I haven't started taking the SAMe because I haven't been able to find out if it is safe to take both 5-HTP &SAMe. Also since both have to be taken on an empty stomach; I have to take both at the exact same time. (I have IBS- I can't have "    "           "     for more than 12 hrs/day:an hour before & after). I have hypoglycemia-so even the 2 hrs make me dizzy.

So back to my ?-can I take the SAMe, also?

THANK YOU, IN ADVANCE                         Forgot-I take 100mg. 3/day. The SAMe is 200mg-suggested dosage is 400mg 3/day.

I'm so glad to hear that the 5-HTP has made such a difference for you.  I have not been able to find any potential interactions between 5-HTP and SAMe.  In case you want to check for any other possible interactions, here is a link to a site where you can check for interactions between various drugs and supplements:  http://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.html

I noticed that you said you take Tylenol and Motrin.  I trust you're not taking them at the same time.  Too much of either can be hard on your kidneys and liver, so I certainly wouldn't recommend taking them together.

I hope the SAMe works well for you.
