my son who very bad neck pain frome a apperation ,fuesing his neck boens together with wire. and he has been on vicvodin for 5 years he has very much pain.whate can he do.to reliev his paine?
Your headline says to get off of high doses of Vicodin, I would suggest if you want to get off the meds to taper off slowly with your doctor's help. Cold turkey is very hard trust me been there done that and it's not fun.
If from the body of your note your son is not getting good pain relief send him to his doctor, neurosurgeon or ortho who ever did the surgery or his primary care doc and have him get a referrel to a pain managment doctor. They can get you on a regime that will help with pain from meds, to exercise and physical therapy to other forms of pain relief.
