Q: what is the next medication when 100 mg ms contin morphine sulfate er does not help like it once did I've been taking it about 4 years, the effects are not long lasting as it used to be

the morphine sulfate 100 mg er only lasts about  3 to 4 hours,I'm on an every 8  hr dosage,I've been taking it  about 4 years what should I do now, I have chronic pain and restless leg syn,nerve damage that is also getting worse degenerating,also arthritis in wrists ,knee's, back, shoulders ,bone loss in my hips I'm a 54 yr old male bone loss in the spine has shrunk me from 6'1" to my current height of 5'10" weight 240

There are more powerful opioids....oxymorphone, levorphanol and Fentanyl are all stronger medications. The fact that you also have restless leg syndrome is intriguing, though, as restless leg syndrome is often found in another pain condition called fibromyalgia, which is often not helped much by opioids. People with fibromyalgia are often helped by drugs like Lyrica and cymbalta. You might ask your doctor about non-opioid pain killers....

see if your doc. will write 40 mg. opana er. it's stronger and will work but cant ell you what to do after that.
