Q: extreme burning sharp pain in lower rt back, down legs. cant sit or lay only walk.

Just recently I started to feel a really uncomfortable pain in my hips and lower back--almost in my buttocks. I'm having a hard time sitting in any position and I can't lay on either say. Even the bottom of my feet hurt for a time. Any ideas?

Hi Denise,

I'm sorry it's taken so long for one of us to get to your question! I hope you've found the answer to your issue at this point, but if you haven't, here are some suggestions. It sounds to me like you could be describing sciatica, which is often characterized by a deep ache in the buttocks and thighs. Sciatica used to be described as one problem, but now we know that it could be several things. Read that link above and you'll see what I mean.

Stretching or yoga can also help sometimes, if you're not overdoing it. Here are some links that explain how they can help:

Why yoga may ease some types of chronic pain

I hope that helps! As ever, talk to your doctor in order to get the best advice for your pain. And good luck!
