I am a 53-yr-old female who is experiencing sharp pain on the left side under my shoulder blade. The pain increases if I take a deep breath. Does anyone know what this could be?
You could have pneumonia, so it is best if you get checked out by a doctor as soon as possible. If the lungs check out just fine, then you could be experiencing the knife-like muscle pain. Only a doctor who examines you will be able to give you the best answer to your question. Other possibilities are problems with your spine, including nerve impingement or disc problems. As I say, only a doctor can tell you for certain.
