Does anyone have any suggestions about obtaining a grant, by being disabled, for helping to pay the bills? I keep reading website after website about getting "free money" that the government has to give. But they all seem to lead me around in circles!! I suppose the truth about there not being a free lunch is proving truthful!! Anyone out there who has been given any grants? Any suggestions? Stace

Are you on disability? Social Security provides (some) money and insurance for people who are too disabled to work. Have you tried to get disability for your condition? SSD can take a while to get but it does provide a lifeline for many people.

Here's a link for Social Security Disability if you haven't tried this option.  http://www.ssa.gov/disability/

Grants are rarely if ever given to individuals. They are reserved for teaching and research hospitals, labs, etc. Sad but true. Real people cannot get real help. Maybe with a new president some of that will turn around.
