Q: Will Medicaid Pay For Gastric Bypass Surgery

I have medicaid and I was wondering will it pay for gastric bypass

NO, Gastric Bypass is considered an elective procedure, Medicaid is government subsidize and they will not pay for that.

YES! MEDICAID WILL PAY FOR A GASTRIC BYPASS! It depends on your medical issues and if the surgery is a medical necessity. In SC, an many other states, the BMI has to be over 40 in order for medicaid to even look at your case. It can definitely be done. I would talk to my PCP directly and have them to refer you to a surgeon that specializes in that field! GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY!
