ultrasound guided injections
Am getting ultrasound guided foot injections, has anyone had this done? It's for tarsal sinus syndrome, want to know what to expect, thanks
I had the ultrasound guided injections on my back and down my leg to my toes. I have had it done at 2 different times. The first time helped the pain for approx 3 years; the 2nd time approx 2 years. I had to lie on my stomach while that injected a needle in my lower back. I could watch the fluid going down my back and leg on a x-ray. It didn't take long at all. You must not do anything physical for 24 hours and not very active for 3 days to get the full effect. I found it worthwhile.

SHEP,I would like to know your diagnosis for your back problem and your lower extremity problems. Where was your back pain and was your pain in both legs? What medication was injected? Was this done by an anesthesiologist and /or a radiologist? What other treatments have you had? I have had "failed back syndrome",bilateral "peripheral neuropathy" and "sciatica" for eight years.I have undergone most likely all treatments you have ever heard of including oral meds and surgeries. Perhaps the more aggressive and uncommon ones have been "Ketamine" infusion and intrathecal Prialt (Ziconitide) in my implanted pain pump. Prialt is also referred to as snail poison or venum and it has a very interesting background. But, I have had no relief and continue to suffer and research new things. I would really like to hear about your problems, treatments etc. Where did you have the ultrasound guided injections performed? I am always looking for something new to try and encourage anyone to answer my comments!! This chronic pain has destroyed my career as a foot and ankle surgeon and forced me into very early retirement. Thank you, DR.J.
I had an ultrasound guided injection for a 2 yr. old inflamed shoulder cuff. Prior to the guided injection, I had a regular injection with no response. When I went for the injection, they first did some ultrasound pictures to confirm the location. I could see the screen. When the doctor came in, he checked the ultrasound images and had me do a few movements to confirm what he saw. He put pressure on the area, and it was the area that was hurting me all this time. He had me lay in an accessible position and the injection didn't take very long, and I felt just a few minor twinges. The area was bruised and tender for a week or so...but the spot didn't hurt the way it had. It is been 2 months and the pain is totally gone. I was quite happy to get rid of one nagging pain.
