Q: Pain Pump Leaking?????

How can you find out if your catheter is leaking? My pump has been in since 2011, and worked fine. Recently I started having severe lumbar pain, radiating down both legs and feet, and numbness and tingling. There is a lump on the base of my spine. I feel nauseated and have headaches. I can't get out of bed, because it hurts to much to ambulate.  I have fentanyl and clonidine in the pump.  Thanks!  Bonnie

I would talk to your doctor and your pain pump representative. Some of the symptoms of pain pump leaks include nausea, stomach cramping, nervousness, body aches, etc. If the pump is leaking you could be exposed to very large amounts of the drug.

Even if it's not the pump your symptoms, particularly the lump on your spine and the severe lumbar pain certainly warrant a quick visit to the doctor. Good luck!
