Q: Dilaudid in implanted pumps ?

What has been the experience of others and studies of dilaudid instead or morphine in an implanted pump for back pain relief.  I will soon be switched from morphine to dilaudid

due to tolerance built up on morphine?  Side effects of dilaudid?

I've never experienced Dilaudid but I can give you some idea of the possible side effects. They're actually quite similar to other narcotic drugs such as morphine and could include things like dizziness, constipation, mental clouding, drowiness, nausea, troubled breathing, vomiting, etc. Many of these are kind of characteristic side effects caused by the way these drugs act on  the central nervous system. Hopefully if you've been able to handle morphine you'll do fine on Dilaudid. Good luck with the pain pump.
