Most legitimate research studies offer little or no compensation for participants.  Generally, all that is offered is free medical treatment and sometimes travel expenses.  However, some studies do compensate healthy subjects as an incentive to get them to participate. But even those who do pay healthy subjects don't usually offer a great deal of money.    There are risks to any clinical trial or research study and it's important to consider them carefully before deciding to participate.  You can read more about clinical trials, the procedures and the risks at ClinicalTrials.gov and the Western Institutional Review Board Web site.
