I want to correct something said in the previous answer to this question.  Just because you go through withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking a drug does not mean you are addicted to it.  It simply means your body has become physically dependent on it. There's a big difference between dependency and addiction.  If you were addicted, you would be taking more than one a day.  Someone who is addicted to a drug needs ever-increasing amounts to maintain the same effect – usually a high.    If you're concerned about continuing to take the valium, talk to your doctor about how to best discontinue it so you will have minimal withdrawal symptoms.  Good luck to you.
