No, I would definitely not recommend taking medication that expired four years ago.  At best it has probably lost some, if not all, of its effectiveness.  At worst it could have deteriorated and actually become dangerous.  

 

For future reference, you can extend the expiration of medications – both prescription and over-the-counter – by storing them properly.  Read "Storing Medications" to learn how to store different types of medication.
