Are Vicodin and Percocet the same pain reliever, just another name but same drug.

If they are different, what is the difference and should be the better one for FMS and CF?

Thank you.

LORD NO!!!!!!!! Vicoden is hydrocodone, and percocet is oxycodone!!!  Percocet is the winner here for severe pain. You take less amounts for more pain!  They are vastly different as far as chemical makeup, and hydrocodone is three time weaker than oxycodone!

I agree with the last answer. For some, the Percocet is better but it depends on the person. I use Vicodin for punch through pain rather than percocet but that doesn't mean that it wouldn't be the oposite for you and others.

I will be honest with you, I dont see any difference really.  I had back surgery and dr wrote me rx for percocet.  He gave me 10's 325. I took two when I first got home and it did help the pain, but did not notice any kind of high feeling.  Hydrocodone helps also.  Works differently for different people.  Watch out for people that may ask you for one.  They will say it is for their back, but most of the time it is because they want to get high with alcohol.  Plus, it will ruin it for you when your dr looks to see how fast your pills are going.

Hydrocodone is completely different than oxycodone. Oxycodone is for more severe pain and the effects last longer. I have FMS and the only thing that helps is percocet!!
