Q: can you get heel spurs at 28?

I have pain in my heel everytime I rest, when I stand up, and start walking around it goes away until I rest again.  I read that this could be heel spurs, but it is seen in people aroudn the age of 40, but I'm only 28.  Can you get heel spurs at 28, and do I need to go to the doctor for it, or just put heat on it and see what happens.

You are about 10 years earlier than usual but bear in mind that's referring to what usually occurs. There are outliers for every disease; people who get a condition earlier than expected, people you don't expect to get a disease such as men who get breast cancer (it does happen) or non-smokers who get lung cancer or thin people in good shape who get diabetes type II.

The fact that the pain gets better the more you walk does suggest it could be a heel spur. The fact that you're young suggests that you could have a condition called plantar fasciitis that has triggered the spur to occur at an earlier than normal age.

It sounds like you should get it checked out before it gets more painful.
