Q: In need of a pain management physician without the need of a referral in the Birmingham, Al area...

My husband has cervical fusion in 2004 and was eventually referred to a pain management physician. He went to that dr and was prescribed medications for over a year.  Due to his job, he had to stop going for his VERY NEEDED treatment and meds.  Now he desperately needs a pain management physician but doesn't want to go back to his surgeon for a referral.  Any suggestions???  Let me know if you know of any such pain management physicians in or around the Birmingham, Alabama area.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  He is a very different person when not on his medications and can't do as much as he can when he is on them.    Thank you for any help you can provide.

I don't of a specific pain physician there but you might try the find a pain physician box at the bottom of the page of the URL below to see who's in your area.

You also might want to check this url http://headacheandmigrainenews.com/finding-the-right-pain-clinic-4-things-to-look-for/ for an idea of things to look for in a pain clinic. Good luck!
