Q: Is it safe to take oxycodone-APAP 5/325 on an empty stomach?

My husband had gallbladder surgery and just got out of the hospital.  The doctor recommended Oxycodone-APAP 5-325 mg to be taken for pain.  He doesn't have an appetite and we were wondering if he can take this drug on an empty stomach?

Take a look at the instructions came at the prescription. I believe it can be taken on an empty stomach; if it can't that will certainly be stated on the instructions. I didn't see any indication on the web that it needs to be taken with food. Medline states The solution, concentrated solution, tablet, and capsule are usually taken with or without food every 4 to 6 hours, either as needed for pain or as regularly scheduled medications. He should be drinking a good amount of water, I believe, so that he doesn't get constipated. Good luck!
