Q: is ms contin stronger than oxycodone?

am currently taking 30 mg. oxycodone 5x a day w/10 mg. percocet 3x a day as breakthrough. not working as well doc is switching me to ms contin 60 mg. er 2x per day w/percocet 4x a day as breakthrough.

According to a cancer pain site they're both prescribed for severe pain but I have read that the morphine derivate (ms contin) is stronger. Research is indicating, however, that people have genetic differences in how they respond to pain relievers. Thus the fact that one drug is 'stronger' than another drug may not matter much if you have a better response to that other drug. Good luck with the ms contin I hope it works for you.
