Q: What Should I be looking forward too now??

I have Chronic Pain in my shoulder and upper back, I have bben on Fentanyl 100mcg Patch and 10/325 Perkesets for Breakthrough Pain...

Now my Dr. Switched me to 50 mg Tramadols since I have the 100mcg patch

The patch has definately helped, I have an appt with a Pain Management Dr and He brought up the point of placing me on Muscle Relaxers and Anti-Flamatory instead of Fentanyl.... Im scared...

I Finally found something that helps ( patch) and now he wants to take me off???

Why would my Dr go from Perkeste to Tramadol???

Anybody have any idea on what I need to look into next???

Most doctors don't like to keep patients on opioids long term if it can possibly be avoided.  He may just be trying to find a combination of non-opioid medications that will still relieve your pain.

Don't hesitate to ask him why he wants to switch your medications and express your concerns to him.  As long as you're not confrontational, he should be willing to explain his reasoning to you.  It's important that you and your doctor work together as a team to manage your pain.  If your doctor won't talk with your or work with you, it's probably time to find another doctor.

Good luck to you.
