I need a pain doctor

Topics:Chronic Pain

I suffer from chronic headaches (tension, hormone, migraine, cluster), neck pain and back pain. Hydrocodone and oxycodone work best for me, but I am sooooooo tired of jumping through hoops every time I need a refill. Please help me find an on-line doctor or one in Winston-Salem, NC. Getting back and forth to the doctor, filling in the same forms and running the same tests is expensive, very frustrating and particularly difficult because I am blind. I really need a doctor that will just prescribe what works for me!

You're not going to find a safe and legal way to get medications prescribed online.

A Migraine and headache specialist would be a better choice for you. Pain doctors treat pain well, but often don't know a lot about Migraine abortives or preventive meds for Migraines and headaches. With chronic headaches and Migraines, you need preventive therapies for a few reasons. Research is showing that Migraine is a progressive brain disease and that having three or more Migraine attacks per month increases the risk of brain damage. See Yes, Migraines Can Cause Brain Damage for more information on this.

Taking pain medications more than two or three days a week can aggravate the problem by causing medication overse headaches, aka rebound. For more information on this, see Medication Overuse Headache - When the Remedy Backfires.

We have a directory of doctors that may be helpful to you. See Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists. I know you're in NC, but if you don't see a doctor close enough for you, please check the listing again over the next couple of days. Patients sent me some recommendations for SC today, and I'll be adding them.

Good luck,

Teri
