When is enough, enough ?

Over the past 20 years, I have had 3 MRIs, been to a few different doctors and specialiasts, filled out countless forms, answered the same questions over and over, had many x-rays, had numerous tests run and tried multiple medications for chronic headaches, neck pain, back pain and TMJ.  So when is enough, enough ? The only time my quality of life seems to be good in regard to pain is when I have given everything else a chance to work, gotten little or no relief after hours of waiting and finally taken hydrocodone or oxycodone. I am blind so transportation and childcare are a hardship. I am allergic to ibuprofin and NSAIDS, and tylenol does no good. Medication and doctors appointments are very expensive ! Finally, I am soooooooooooooooo tired of being in pain. I understand that hydrocodone and oxycodone are considered a big deal, but they work for me consistantly and are relatively inexpensive. What should I do to get the medicine that works for me and allows me to have a good quality of life ?

Answering the same questions does become very exhausting. I have been through the same routines as you. When you finally do find something that works you shaould be able to stick to it. Have you explained this to the doctor that prescribed this to you. Quality of life is very important, which I am lacking in right now. Please tell your doctor exactly what you wrote done on this site.  That maybe should help. If he has a heart he should listen to you. If he or she doesnt listen try to find one that does. I have a doctors appointment tuesday. I hope it works for me too. Good luck.

I know how things can become so monotonous when you answer the same questions over and over. Just dealing with a situation similar to yours for a year drove me nuts. It becomes so frustrating when no one can tell you what is wrong or how they can help. Some doctors just treat you as if you are just a number. Stay with what you have found that helps you. I hope that you can find out what is wrong soon! Good luck!
