Q: What condition causes ear pain after being hit in ear? any cures?

My husband had a family reunion last sunday. It's now Saturday and the pain has gotten worse. He said it started hurting after a game of football where he received an elbow to the ear. A few days later we then went swimming and it said it still hadn't stopped hurting. Then both yesterday and today he said the pain seems to being getting worse.

There are a number of possible injuries that could result from a blow to the ear, including a tear in the eardrum, dislocation of the tiny bones in the middle ear, or damage to the inner ear.  If your husband's ear has been hurting for a week and is getting worse, he really should see a doctor as soon as possible.
