i also have pn for 7 years.  the drs. even at the cleveland clinic have no idea why i have pn.  anyway i am 54 year old female and I go to a pain clinic.  they have kept me out of severe pain.  (there is a test where they took a nerve out of my left ankle and analize it and it tells you if indeed you have  pn or not, and the severity of it.  i do have severe pn.).  So find a pain clinic.  My dr. there gives me methadone and lyrcia.  They work very good together.  In my years at the pain clinic i have had oxycotin til it stopped working,  before the oxycotin and methadone I took morphine for quite some time but then your body gets used to the drug.  Methadone seems to be the best for me.  I feared that when my body became tolarant of that then there would be nothing left but my pain doctor is very kind and assured me that he could keep me out of pain.  I do not know how i would have lived the last 7 years without any kind of medicines.  Try looking for a pain center in your area.  Mine is right in a hospital.  They are so knowledgeable about chroniic pain and they know exactly how much medicine to give you.  I hope you try one.  marybeatty53@hotmail.com  p.s.  my pn just came on me one day as i was walking down the street my feet began to hurt and my painful journey started that day.    (also they implanted a spinal cord stimulator in me)  that works great also.  It takes away any pain from the leg down.  It dosen't help the pn in my hands.
