Q: severe pain under right breast.

severe pain under right breast...what is going on

Pain strikes at random.  Only pain medication to touch ot is Lortab.  I've tried others.  I've had my gall bladder out about 8 months ago. Also had heart by-pass 10 years ago.  I have a dr's appointment 2/3, what can I expect????

It's hard to say what might be causing your pain.  There are many possibilities. You're smart to have gone ahead and scheduled a doctor's appointment.  Be prepared to:

•  Describe the type of pain – i.e., burning, stabbing, aching, etc.

•  Show exactly where it hurts

•  Explain when it hurts and if anything makes it worse – Ex.: Does it get worse after you eat?  exercise?  Is it worse when you first get up in the morning?  at night?

•  Rate your pain on a scale of 0 - 10.  This can be really important.  Here's an article that should help: Using the Pain Scale Effectively

The doctor will probably do a physical exam, pressing on the area.  Depending on what he finds or doesn't find, he may order some diagnostic tests.

Good luck!  I hope you're able to get an accurate diagnosis and treatment soon.
