I just had my first epidural caudal steroid injection. I have tried just about evrything, and I am not a candidate for surgery. I have multiple herniated discs throughout my back from my neck down to L5, and I have had a previous failed surgery. It left a lot of scarring and I have severe arthritis throughout my back with severe stenosis. I am just concerned about things. Maybe people who have experienced one of these shots can help? The doctors have not told me what to expect.
I know this is an old question, but I did want someone from our staff to answer you! I hope you've long since gotten relief from the injection and are doing better. This site has some good information on the injections, but as I say, you've no doubt found out on your own how the injection was going to affect your pain.
Perhaps you'd consider coming back and telling us how things turned out for you? Your experience might be invaluable to someone else suffering from the same symptoms and having injections to treat them.

Hopefully for you, it will work! You will get a different answer depending on who you talk to, works for some, doesnt for others.
Unfortunately, all I got was a sore ass, for a day or so, then back to the pain. As far as the procedure, it wasnt bad, hope it works for you, and someone else can probably go into more detail, but its just like meds, what works for you, might make me sick as a dog. So have a positive attitude, and I'll be praying, that this is the answer to yours!
