Q: What Causes Elevated Sed Rate and c-reactive protein too?

 I recently had some blood work done. I was complaining about leg pain. I recieved a phone call and the dr. wants to do more blood work because my sedimentation rate and c-reactive protein was elevated.

So many things can cause an elevated ESR and CRP. That's like asking: "What causes a fever?".

 

Infections, vascular diseases, inflammatory conditions, cancer, even heart disease. Both the ESR and CRP are very non-specific laboratory findings that point in many different directions. More testing and examination will be need to find the right direction.
