Q: A fentanyl 100mg Patch is ment to last for 72h right? What if it only is working for like 2 1/2days?

My 100mg/h Fentanyl Patch (equilivant to haveing 360mg of oral morphine a day, WOW) is only lasting for 2 1/2 days, then the pain comes racing back.  I have tried lots of things including even going to the local GP to get a Injection of Tramal...

Doctor has just changed me to Tramal SR 50 mg twice a day, pain is gradually staying around for longer.

2 years ago people, I was injured, Today I am still in so much pain and have developed Hypersencitivity of the Central Nervous System, which also is not helping the matter.

If I could live in a Pool 24/7, I would as this is one of the few things that helps, but if the pool is too cold, I can't stay in.  Got use of a heated pool but their temperature is boardering on cold, so don't use it as often as I would like.  Need to fine some were with a spa....that is like heaven on my back, it eases of the pain so much.

BTW have found Enimas the best solution to clean the bowels as have no control on the bowel musules.

Back to the Question, what is after Fentanyl and have been on this treatment for about 4 - 5 months now?

I noticed my comment and answer had been deleted, sorry if you found me offensive or rude!  I promise I was just trying to offer my insight, I wouldn't have intentionally been that way.  I am sorry!

One of the cautions with the patches is not getting too hot.  Have you by chance gotten into the spas or hot tubs with the patches.  This has been known to cause the medication to be released into the patient more rapidly and can lead to serious problems. Could this have been the cause of your patch not lasting an long as the 72 hours. I know that the pain is horrible to live with, and yes, water therapy is wonderful.  The water should not be below 82 degrees, but I can note that in my case, it needs to reach 84 degrees or I will experience more pain.  I certainly hope that you can find something to be of help to you.

Well off the patches since Nov09 and now back on MS Contin 30mg, but not 12 hourly.  It is 30mg every 6 hours.  Some days are much better than others by a long shot.  Still have chronic Back Pain afert 4 yrs, and doctors don't recon that much will change now.  Now on 24 tablets a day just so i can function, yes at times I feel like a walking pharmacy.

I am starting to find that I am getting upset and feel down some of the time.  I am living on the poverty line due to my situation and have bills comming out of my ears.  Try to stay positive people say, if some people knew what I was going through with pain mainly in my back, legs, shoulders, souls of my feet.

I feel that my battle with all this is far from over.  Seams the longer it drags on the more disilusioned I become.  I have a very supportive frame work around me which stops me from falling into full fledged depression.

Being elergic or having bad reactions to alot of pain meds I have found that MS Contin is the best option.

Still tweeking my meds, and I don't really think that I will get away from all the medication for the rest of my life, but thanks 4 ur post.
