Q: why would a benzo show up in a urine drug screen if I haven't taken one in a long long time?

I went in for a routine drug screen for a new job.  I take medications for a post lumbar fracture, But I dont take a benzodiazepine.

send me a message back asap.   I can list my medications that I have taken if that would help?

According to one website phenylpropanolamine and ephedrine are both substances found in many over-the-counter cold remedies that can cause a false positive for amphetamines.

I run a sober living home and we test for benzos.  A list would help, but I would call or go to a local pharmacy and ask a professional, and they will be able to confirm if anything you are taking will show up as a benzo.

Benzo's include sedatives like ativan, valium or xanax to name a few and can only be prescribed.

Not sure what you mean by a long long time, but I have had clients enter our program from rehabs who were prescibed ativan 2-3 times daily for 3-7 days for detox and it showed in their test for up to 30-60 days.

hope this helps
