Q: Can any one PLEASE PLEASE HELP!. I need a Pain Specialist to help me deal with my pain before

i go crazy or worse. I can't take it anymore my pain is so bad now that death almost seems like it would be a relief. I'm not suicidal in the sence I want to die I just don't want to live like this and am not sure if I can for much longer. A Little Back round; I've been dealing with this pain off and on for a few years now. I've been put on just about every kind of medicine you can think of some of, some of them worked for a while and some of them never worked at all.I've tried two different kinds of shots. One went into the muscle the other went directly into the nerve itself with temporary relief. I've even had 2 back surgeries to help with the leg and lower back pain but with no avail. One of the few things I haven't tried are narcotic pain meds. Mostly due to my FEARS of my doctor and society stigmatizing me for the rest of my life as an addict due to narcotic use. But it has come down to life or death and I choose life. So my question is, is there anyone in the Spfld, Ma area that has had Luck finding a Doctor who has helped them get rid of their pain, get on with their life and without making them feel like an addict. If so PLEASE I'm Begging you to Please help me. You may be my last hope. Thanks Ik

I'm glad to hear you're choosing life, Kleo!  It's a shame that society so often stigmatizes people for taking pain medication.  Nobody thinks anything about it if we take medication for diabetes or high blood pressure, but we're somehow suspect if we take medication for pain.

I'd like to suggest an article that explains the difference between addiction and physical dependence when it comes to pain medications.  Not only is it important for you to understand the difference, but it may help you in dealing with pain management doctors as well.  Here's a link:  Opioids:  Addiction vs. Dependence

I don't live in your area, so I can't recommend a specific doctor, but I can give you a link to a directory of pain management doctors so you'll at least know who's available in your area.  Hopefully another community member might be able to give you a more specific suggestion.  Here's the directory:

I wish you the best.  I hope you're able to find a good doctor and get some relief very soon.

I have been on about every opiate there is.  I finally found a combo that works, they have me on percocet for breakthru type pain with oxycontin, 60mg, every 8 hours.  Do not be afraid of them.  They work and give you some quality of life.  The only problem I have is occasional constipation.  That is minor to deal with than the awful pain I had.  From your post, I would also consider something for depression, pain does that to us.  You can feel better, just let yourself.
