how is hydrocodone-APAP 400 mg solution different from a lortab 10/500 tablet?
If anyone can help me with this ASAP...my 4 yr old got the liquid form for having her tonsils out, and now my 15 year old son had his taken out. I have both medications here, my daughters liquid form, and my husbands back medication.
I can't say for sure exactly how the liquid hydrocodone compares in strength to the tablets. That's something your pharmacist could tell you. However, I absolutely would not recommend giving a child of any age someone elses medication. It's both dangerous and illegal. Hydrocodone is a controlled narcotic drug. Your son's doctor should have prescribed him some pain medication following his surgery. If he didn't, please call his doctor and request a prescription. You can always tell him what you have on hand and ask if you could give him one of those. But please don't give either to him without his doctor's permission.

I'm so glad to hear you contacted your son's doctor. I'll respond to your comments and questions concerning that through the private message you sent me.
I don't mind at all that you asked whether I have medical credentials. In fact, you are wise to do so. I don't have formal medical training. I'm a patient educator and advocate. My interest in chronic pain issues began many years ago when I began researching to find more information about my own pain illness – fibromyalgia. In recent years I have expanded my interest and studies to include all areas of chronic pain when I discovered how many people are suffering daily. My purpose here at ChronicPainConnection is to help guide people to learn more about their chronic pain conditions and to aid them in finding and communicating with the appropriate health care professionals. You can read more about my background in my profile: http://www.healthcentral.com/chronic-pain/c/5949/profile

The Doctor did send home the same medication--liquid hydrocodone for my son, it only took me about 2 seconds to realize what you just said as far as giving my son my husbands medication. That IS NOT WISE. There fore I called the Dr. and you can read the message I sent you from there. I just feel so bad for my son.Although I believe you answered my question. May I ask, do you have any medical credentials? Please don't take that personal, I was just wondering.
Thank you again,
Mrs. Yoder
