Have u ever heard this....
I went to the doctor yesterday, and he informed me of several things. I had the spinal fusion C7-C6, C6-C5, C5-C4 doner bone w/plates (3 plates 6 screws). I have 2 blown disks L5, L4, S1 DDD in L4 and S1....I still have pain from the nerve damage in my neck going down both arms, left more than right. I have pintched nerves in my lumbar running across butt cheeks, down both legs, 4 toes on left for numb 3 toes on right foot numb. I told him I could get a sharpie and draw where the pain starts and where it ends...I can't walk I told him I would be in a wheel chair in the next 2 weeks at the rate I am going. For starters he tells me nothing is wrong with me, that DDD and blown disks don't cause pain. He said that my other neurosurgeon that did my neck fusion, did it for the money only. He said doctors don;t gt paid much for visits, the surgeries is where they make there money. Now telling u this, the NS that did my fusion is the leading head honcho in my area. He had me schelduled for a lumbar fusion 2 different times, I canceled both times, so is he just bleeding my insurance dry by doing surgries that I don't need, I have MRI's showing the disks...well I was also informed that I needed to see another Doctor to help my pain, and he suggested a psychiatrist. So I am just taking a leap frog guess here that he is saying I am imagining or maybe even making up all this chronic pain. How can he say that when me and my husband can see the blown disks on my MRI and were not even skilled in reading one. I wonder what my NS that did my last fusion and had me down for another one, would say about that. Has anyone out there ever had a doctor to tell u that DDD don't cause pain? or a blown disk don't cause pain?
What is wrong with that doctor that told you that DDD and blown disks don't cause pain? My neurosurgeon told me the opposite. The disks were pressed upon the nerves and caused horrible pain. I could tell right after surgery that the problem was fixed. Now I have scar tissue wrapped around the nerve roots and will be in pain the rest of my life. I'm sure some doctors do surgery that isn't needed, but like you said your MRI showed the problem just like mine did. It is so hard to find a caring doctor that is willing to help with pain control. Good luck to you.
